Local Business to stay competitive You must use today’s proven tools…THE INTERNET AND AUCTIONS, 2 OF THE BEST
January 22, 2009 | Comments Off
As a small business owner all too often I was faced with this dilemma.
Business was slow and the only way I could think to liven it up was to advertise.
The local newspaper was too expensive to advertise in more than once, and besides, what was I going to advertise that would bring the locals to my store?
There is a solution. Leveraged Advertising.
Let your common sense decide for you.
WHICH WOULD GET THE MOST LOCAL PUBLIC INTEREST?
- You could advertise a SALE
Or You could advertise an AUCTION.
- You could advertise in the Local Newspapers
Or you could use your own mailing or email list of customers and pass out flyers in your store.
Turn your UNWANTED INVENTORY into a magnet to attract customers THEN SELL the Inventory for CASH.
HERE IS THE DEAL:
Pick 30 Unwanted items of VALUE from your store to be Auctioned on the net.
PUT UP SIGNS IN YOUR STORE ANNOUNCING THE DATE AND TIME for the AUCTION. Showcase the Merchandise.
PASS OUT AND SEND OUT FLYERS TO ATTRACT AS MUCH ATTENTION AS YOU CAN, ELIMINATING ANY PAID ADVERTISING. Include all information about the items up for auction.
THERE, YOU HAVE AN EVENT AUCTION.
Event Auctions are LIVE, in one session, by State, City and Your Company.
Here is what is in it for You
THE LOCAL ADVANTAGE
NO SHIPPING
- Use the internet to sell to local residents and bring them into your store.
- Get the public’s attention by putting up AUCTION Signs. People LOVE AUCTIONS.
- Renew attention of old customers from your email or mail list. You may want to place a classified ad in the auction section of the Sunday paper.
- Bring people into your store to Preview the AUCTION and get info.
- Bring the Winners into your store to pick up their items.
- Opportunity to show and sell other items to all concerned, create activity.
You use unwanted merchandise to generate TRAFFIC FLOW and CASH Flow.
Use frequency to build a following.
This is Leveraged Advertising
Get away from Ebay. Create your Own Following and have your Own Auction.
Consider, what You could do with Your Very Own Auction on the Net.
This is a superior method for a Quitting Business Sale, Stock Liquidation, Grand Opening Sale or any type of Sale that would Benefit from an Internet AUCTION FROM YOUR STORE but THE BIDDING IS ON THE NET.
Event Auctions can have up to 1500 items.

10 Keys to Buying Luggage
March 5, 2008 | Leave a Comment
(I-Newswire) - Imagine, you’re waiting patiently at the baggage claim and your suitcase comes out; one piece at a time. First the wheels, then the handle, then the rest of the bag – and eventually, your clothes. This is your punishment for buying a cheap, poor quality suitcase. Doing your homework when shopping for luggage will pay off – just follow these 10 keys to buying luggage.
1. Style: We know. We should have started this list of with the things that really matter –durability, materials and warranties – but what fun is that? Style is what it’s all about.
2. Price: With so many choices in luggage, it’s always a good idea to know how much you want to spend. A simple bag at a discount store can run as little as $20, higher end brands like Tumi offer rolling bags as high as $1000.
3. Wheels: It really is where the rubber meets the road. When it comes to durability, one thing that’s often overlooked is wheels. Cheap discount bags usually come with molded plastic wheels that are the first thing to go. Mid to high end bags come with either rollerblade style wheels or wheel systems. If you go with a bag with rollerblade style wheels, look for ones that are well protected or slightly recessed.
4. Fabric: Suitcases come in as many different materials as there are days in a year. Polycarbonate shells, rip-stop ballistic nylon, high count polyester and leather just to name a few. For the road warrior we recommend high quality nylon like the 2520D Ballistic Nylon on the Delsey Helium Pro line.
5. Frame: Most of the weight in luggage comes from the frame. Look for a frame that’s a composite fiberglass/graphite. These materials will stand up to the rigors of travel and keep functioning smoothly.
6. Handles: Poorly designed handles are a pain in the…hand. Especially when you’re lugging around 49 pounds of gear. ( Just under the 50 pound weight limit of most airlines! ) Look for reinforced handles wrapped for ergonomic comfort.
7. Padding: Another thing that is often overlooked on luggage is padding. It’s easy to see the outside material and inside liner, but a lot of the durability comes from the padding that protects you personal items from wear and tear.
8. Reinforcements: There are obvious places on any suitcase that take the most punishment. The corners of almost any bag come with some type of solid material to lend support.
9. Zippers: All of the reinforcements in the world won’t keep your personal items safe if the zipper breaks. Look for a bag with a large, double stitched, self correcting zipper.
10. Warranty: Generally speaking, the better the bag, the better the warranty. Over time, baggage takes an incredible amount of abuse and inferior products will not survive.

Announcement for Buyers and Sellers of Online Auctions
February 24, 2008 | Leave a Comment
If you want change, if you want to sell your items online, then it may be time for a
change – it is time for you to try a LIVE Online Auction.
Do you want to sell now with a live online auction or sometime later? The answer: NOW!
The following is a compare/contrast example from Blackwells Live Auction.com on the benefits of a live auction over a static auction.
Live Auctions: How to aggressively go after a buyer:
1. Items are showcased in a preview for up to 14 days.
2. Your Item is presented at a Live Auction for Sale.
3. Your item is sold or not sold and you will know immediately. Your item will have a great chance of selling as it will be presented to the Internet in a Live Auction Setting, where competitive bidding prevails. Live Auctions are the best.
4. Not all items sell right away. Some of the reasons: price too high, quality is an issue, not the right buyers at the auction. This can happen at any auction.
5. Tip: You can rotate your inventory on our site until you find the right buyers to bid for your item.
Being aggressive means you search for a buyer.
Static Online Auctions: Passively waiting until a buyer shows up
1. Show your item on a static page.
2. Put a buy price on it or let it gather bids.
3. Hope someone that wants it, finds it.
4. Hope you do not have to negotiate.
5. Hope you make a sale.
This type of selling is stagnant and lacks the charm, suspense and excitement of a Real Live Auction.
Being passive means you wait for a buyer to come along.
The benefit of a live, online auction: They are good for the seller as well as the buyer. The buyer finds what they want at a fair auction price. Visit an online auction site today: www.blackwellsliveauction.com

Transform Your House With These Inexpensive Ideas
February 20, 2008 | Leave a Comment
(I-Newswire) - Most of us want to update our living space once in a while. The monotony of the seeing the same decor year after year forces even the most languid of us to try for a change in decor. Besides, if you last decorated your house in the 80’s, you may be tempted by the incredibly attractive options of home decoration offered now. If it is the cost that has been keeping you from trying to redecorate, you can rest easy. This article will show you that it is possible to redecorate your house on a shoestring budget. Read on to find out how.
One of the cardinal rules in redecoration of the house on a budget is to have a specific goal in mind. Unless you know exactly how you want the house to look finally, you may continue on a wild goose chase, thereby wasting a lot of money on things you do not want. Study each of the rooms in your house and try to understand what is making your rooms look renovation worthy. Is your bedroom too cluttered with many bedroom furniture pieces? Do you want your living room to look formal? Would you prefer a soothing environment in your house or an energizing one?
Once you have understood what is wrong with your current decorations and decided exactly how you want the newly decorated house to look, the process of refurnishing will get much easier. Moreover, you may realize that you may have to remove a few items to give your house a clean look. This could mean you actually earn money by selling those pieces while redecorating your home!
Another way to ensure that you change the look of each room without spending a ton is to change the wall color. You could also get attractive wallpapers that can update any room dramatically. With a dash of eye popping color any room can have an instant face lift, saving you the cost of new decorative pieces. You could also use interesting fabrics to throw on sofa sets or hang on a wall. A great way to stay within budget is to write down everything you need for the house decor. Note down the wall color you think will look best or the type of wallpaper that you would love to have. Once you have jotted these things, you will not be tempted into buying other things in the store.
A little research of home accessories and furniture stores will help you save a lot of money too. You can check out the auction sites that offer great decorative pieces at very low price. There are other auctions like estate auctions where you may find not only great furniture pieces but also other knick knacks like wall hangings, photo frames, mirrors, vases and even appliances. Remember to check the condition of every object before buying.
You could also visit the yard sales and garage sales that offer many opportunities to get items at throwaway prices. So keep your eyes and ears open for any information about sales relating to home decor. With a little effort and lots of creativity, you will be able to transform your old home into a new one.

Bidding on Challenge Coins and Alike
February 17, 2008 | Leave a Comment
(I-Newswire) - Every challenge coin collector is out there looking for the best deal on a challenge coin and there is no doubt going to a real estate sale is usually the best, not everyone can go to one. The next best thing is an online auction and there are so many but not for coins. You will find two sites on the website auctioning challenge coins and they are eBay and Challenge Coin Auctions .com. eBay is the one that everyone knows and shops. The latter is an upcoming auction people are starting to take notice of. Finding a deal is not the easiest thing out there because of the vastness and saturation of the market. People are just making coins just to make coins.
Knowing your price scale for coins can be an important thing along with being able to distinguish between a remake and the real thing. The best thing currently to defend against getting the wrong thing after you paid the price is belonging to an informative community. A lot of people don’t realize how important both of these ideas are in being successful. Just sitting in front of your computer buying away without ever being a part of the bigger picture is like your first day at school and no one to send you off on your first ride on the school bus. It’s a dangerous market with things like the mass production coming from Korea. People think they are buying an authentic 4 Star Gneral’s coin and they are really getting an unapproved copy of one instead. These things can be avoided when at the auction block.
The previous example was a great example of how a community could easily have stepped in and someone like myself that has full knowledge of the coins coming out of Korea ( because I was stationed there ) could have saved you the $10 when you thought you were getting a coin worth $300 at a steal. Instead you get a coin at a counterfiet price. How you would like to be paid at the end of the week for 40 hours of work in fake $20 bills? The answer is always that you wouldn’t. Take a step back and think before you get out there with your wallet at either challenge coin auction site and remember you have support waiting in the wings, all you have to do is google the words :challenge coin group” or “challenge coin trading” to get you in the right direction.
This process all together doesn’t take long and you will find a lot of great people. A little advice though is never use the forum only to your benefit. If you contribute back enough you will reap better results from people versus a take only relationship. One day you will find yourself helping someone new in the hobby as well as you found yourself on day one. You gain a lot of pride and enjoyment out of the whole process and find the hobby experience multiple. Never forget that if you have the time to bid then you have the time to ask people about what you may be bidding on.
